Something you have done, written, or created that you find to be beautiful.

I (Reese) made this video after prom last year.
I'm very proud of the final result.
I find it - and the memories that come with it incredibly beautiful. :)

This is a painting that Emalynn made that she finds very beautiful.
It was created after she visited Estes Park, Colorado. :D

An example of something that you consider to be NOT beautiful. - The 'opposite' of beauty.

This is a picture of the junkyard in Thief River Falls. We consider it "ugly" because there
is a bunch of scrap metal and "junk" that doesn't look anything close to beautiful.

#8

An example of a modern or classical piece of art that you find to be beautiful.

This is a picture of the Spoon and Cherry Sculpture at the Walker Sculpture Garden.
Reese took it during the Magnet Arts Trips and finds it both interesting and beautiful.

#9

An example of a video that captures your definition of beauty.

Fireworks. By Katy Perry.

Little boy with cancer. Parent's fighting in front of their children. Typical teen girl, uncomfortable with her weight. Gay couple.

He witnesses a baby being born and gains hope again. The son, not being able to handle seeing his sister upset, forces his parents to stop. She gains the confidence to jump into the pool with her friends. They kiss.

So many great messages; I get goose bumps from it.  Morale of all this: Maybe I'm a 'firework' too. I can do so many great things in my life. Why should I let my flaws get in my way? No one's perfect. Flaws=Beauty, anyway.

An example of a piece of music that you find beautiful.

This is actually a video of Emalynn's sister playing piano. We find this to be beautiful because the music just captures your soul. Also, her body just moves with the music and goes with the flow of it. This video captures emotion and beauty all in one single piece. It gives you a sense of peace, wonder, and awe at the beauty of music.

Two examples of manufactured beauty (products in stores) in TRF.

A Barbie is the PERFECT example of manufactured beauty. But that's all that it really is, manufactured. This Barbie has no "real" beauty, it's all fake. It's sad that many young girls look up to the "Barbie standard" as beautiful, and that they have to be this skinny and have this certain look to be beautiful. Did you know that if this Barbie was real, her body would be so out of proportion that she would not be able to have a baby, nor be able to even stand up?

Here is a cute little sign that we found in the Pioneer Village in the Barber Shop. The sign says, "It Pays To Look Well." We thought this sign would be a good example of manufactured beauty. What it says is true, especially when it comes to job interviews or dressing up for professional jobs. You may hear the saying, "Don't judge by looks" but your looks really do say something about you! Another really good quote I've heard before is "You never get a second chance at a first impression," (I'm not sure who it's by, but I thought it was very true!)

#5

An example of something that you find to be beautiful that you take for granted (this will probably be something mundane that you tend to overlook because you take it for granted or have never thought about it before.  An example might be Mr.Zutz's tie or the old architecture of LHS or even the Gettysburg address fused to the outside of LHS or - gulp - architecture of the Ralph.)

For this example, we decided to take a picture of ourselves in the mirror. We took a picture of ourselves because too often, we take each other for granted. Sometimes we may be "too busy" to appreciate each other or may not realize how lucky we are to have each other. (But we definitely appreciate each other ;)

#4

An example of spontaneous beauty (something that unexpectedly catches your eye as beautiful) locally.

This bridge caught our eye as a piece of beauty because of how pretty it looks with the light casting shadows off the jagged beams. Even the way we angled the camera gives the bridge a different viewpoint and makes it look pretty cool.

#3

Two examples of acts of beauty (such as kids playing, leaves falling, birds flying...) in TRF or the sorrounding area.

We took a picture of this Oreo as an "act" of beauty because one of our friends, Alisha, shared her Oreo's with us! We thought it was very thoughtful and kind :) Thanks Alisha!

We also choose this Subway sign to show an "act" of beauty. Saying "thank you" is always an act of beauty. It shows that you appreciate what someone else has done for you, and that it hasn't gone unnoticed. We used this example to represent anytime someone shows their appreciation with a "thank you."

#2

Two examples of artifical beauty (architecture, construction, artwork, technology - something that is man made) here in TRF.

Here is the bridge by the Hartz Park. We thought this was a great example for man-made beauty. We thought the design of this bridge was beautiful!

Here is the gate to the Pioneer Village. We thought this would be another great example of man-made beauty. Not only does this gate look cool but . . . Gates always remind me of castles, which reminds me of princesses which means BEAUTY!!!

#1

Two examples of natural beauty (as in nature) here in TRF.

Rivers are always a beautiful part of nature. The gorgeous fall trees border the river and the water always reflects the beauty of whats above and around it (which, when you're looking into it, means your beautiful face! ;)
